A repeat drinks order is rarely an exact repeat of the week before. A pub may need its usual lagers and house wines again but fewer soft drinks after a quiet week. A restaurant may be replenishing its regular spirits while adding extra sparkling wine for a private booking. The core is recognisable, but the final selection still needs attention.
For a busy hospitality team, the frustrating part is often finding all those products again. The Champers ordering app offers two practical ways to reduce that work: favourites for returning to regularly purchased lines, and app order history for recreating a particular earlier order. They solve slightly different problems, and knowing the distinction makes it easier to choose the right route.
Use favourites for the products you return to regularly
Most venues have products that appear in order after order: the house pour, core draught range, standard mixers or dependable alcohol-free options. Quantities may change and occasional lines may come and go, but the central selection remains recognisable.
Favourites provide a shorter route back to those chosen products. Instead of searching across the wider catalogue whenever stock is replenished, customers can keep commonly purchased lines together and return to that selection when preparing the next basket.
This is useful when the venue does not want to reproduce one complete past order. A manager can begin with the regular core range, then choose what is required after the latest stock check. It remains a fresh order based on current needs, simply with less searching.
Use app order history to rebuild a particular earlier order
Sometimes a previous order is the more natural place to begin. Perhaps last Friday’s order reflects the usual weekend requirements, or an earlier event order contains a useful combination of wines, spirits and mixers.
The app’s order history lets customers return to a previous app order, copy its products into a new basket and edit that basket before submitting it. This means the earlier order acts as a practical foundation, rather than an instruction that must be repeated unchanged.
That ability to edit matters. Stock on hand, bookings, weather and trading patterns can all affect what a venue needs next. Customers can change the selection or quantities so the new order reflects the present situation.
There is one important boundary: the app history currently covers orders placed through the Champers app. It is not a combined record of orders submitted by email, telephone or EDI. If an earlier order was placed through one of those routes, it will not appear in the app history for reuse.
Favourites or order history: which is the better starting point?
The choice depends on what the team is trying to rebuild.
| Starting point | Most useful when |
|---|---|
| Favourites | You want quick access to a selected group of regular products, but will build the quantities and final basket around the latest stock check. |
| App order history | You want to recreate one specific earlier app order, then adjust it before submitting. |
A venue may use both. Favourites can support ordinary replenishment, while order history can help when an earlier basket closely matches an upcoming trading period or event. Neither removes the need to review the order; each provides a more relevant place to begin.
A repeated basket uses current prices
Reordering from history brings the products from the earlier app order into a new basket, but it does not preserve the old transaction’s prices. Current customer prices are used, so the new basket total may differ from the value of the original order.
Customers should review the new basket as a current order, checking the products, quantities and present pricing before submission. The platform also gives access to applicable offers, so the basket can be considered in the context of what is available now rather than treated as a copy of an old invoice.
Repeat ordering is not automatic replenishment
Champers does not currently provide automatic scheduled or recurring orders. Using favourites or copying a previous app order does not create a standing order, and nothing is submitted automatically on a weekly or monthly schedule.
Each new basket is prepared, reviewed by the customer and submitted when it is actually needed. The submitted order then follows Champers’ usual review process and remains subject to availability and current terms.
For hospitality operators, this balance is useful: regular products are easier to return to, but the venue keeps control over the timing and contents of every order. There is no assumption that last week’s requirements will be right for this week.
Make the next stock check easier
Use favourites when the same core products regularly appear in changing baskets. Use app order history when one particular earlier app order is the closest match, then edit it for the trading period ahead.
