Drinks promotions tend to work best when they arrive at the right moment. A summer cocktail menu calls for different products from a winter whisky selection, while occasions such as Diwali or Curry Week can bring particular categories into sharper focus. At Champers, we organise our promotional calendar with that changing rhythm in mind and use several connected channels to help customers find offers relevant to them.
We run six promotional periods each year, with a new period beginning every two months. Our Headlines brochure is the main source of information about current promotions, supported by coordinated updates across our website, email and social media. Customers can also check the Special Offers area of our ordering platform or speak to their account manager about relevant promotions.
Six promotional periods across the year
Our promotional calendar is planned around the seasons, major occasions and recognised celebrations within the drinks industry. These can include Cocktail Day, Mocktail Day, Rum Day and Whisky Day, as well as occasions such as Curry Week and Diwali.
This gives each promotional period a timely focus. Relevant products can support seasonal menus and sales, while drinks-industry celebrations provide a natural opportunity to explore a particular style or category. A promotion linked to Rum Day, for instance, may give rum greater prominence without making it the only category represented.
We try to include all the major drinks categories across our promotions. However, the balance can vary according to the theme and time of year. One category may take centre stage in a particular edition while customers can still find offers across a broader selection.
What customers may find in a promotional period
The structure of an offer can vary. Promotions may include straightforward price promotions, basket deals and buy X, get one free offers. Some may also include point-of-sale support or a free keg.
The exact details are set out in the relevant promotional material. Offers in the bi-monthly brochure are available to the independent free trade, while additional offers may have their own conditions, such as requiring the order to be placed through the Champers app.
Promotions are valid during the dates shown and remain subject to availability while stocks last. Promotional prices exclude VAT, so these details are important when comparing offers or deciding when to place an order.
Headlines: the main source for current promotions
Headlines is released every two months and brings the offers for each promotional period together in one place. The latest edition can be downloaded from our website as a digital PDF and is also shared by email. A printed version is available too.
When a new promotional period begins, our website, email and social media updates are normally refreshed together. Customers can therefore encounter the latest activity through the channel they use most often, while Headlines provides the full overview for the period.
Account managers provide another route to the information. They may highlight promotions relevant to a customer’s requirements, which can be useful when an edition covers several categories but only some are immediately relevant to a particular drinks range or menu.
Finding tailored offers on the ordering platform
Customers using our ordering platform can view a customer-tailored Special Offers section. It can be found by going to Main > Special offers.
This area lists products currently on promotion for that customer. Promotional pricing is applied automatically when the promoted SKU is ordered, so there is no code to enter or extra activation step.
The Special Offers section does not currently display promotion end dates. Use the latest Headlines brochure and the dates shown in the relevant promotional information when checking how long an offer runs. The platform is useful for seeing which offers are available to the individual account, while Headlines provides the timing.
Product discovery alongside promotions
Headlines is not limited to price-led activity. New product development, or NPD, may also appear as educational content within the brochure. We may also introduce new products through our website, social media and targeted email communications.
Our approved brand-owner partnership messaging also supports the way we present NPD and exclusive brands. When new products are featured, the emphasis may be educational rather than an offer. Customers should check the individual listing for the relevant promotional terms.
Keeping track of what is available now
With six promotional periods each year, the simplest way to stay up to date is to check the latest Headlines edition rather than rely on information from a previous period. The website, email and social media updates help keep each new edition visible, while the ordering platform shows customer-tailored offers.
For account-specific availability, go to Main > Special offers on the ordering platform. Your account manager may also highlight relevant promotions.
To see what is available during the current promotional period, download the latest Headlines brochure first. Then use Special Offers for account-specific products, or speak to your Champers account manager if you need help finding a relevant offer. Always check the stated dates, availability and VAT treatment before ordering.
